We talk a lot of about his DSLR DIY projects.
I am excited that Emm from the Cheesycam.com site is on my podcast. Emm’s site is a great resource for those looking for great deals on DSLR equipment and DIY type projects. I’ve been trying to get him on the show for the past few weeks, so I am really glad to have him on.
You can also find Emm on Vimeo.
Definitely check out his ‘DIY’ dolly videos because they are so cool. I am thinking about getting one or building one of those myself.
This week is my 6th episode already! Thanks for all of you that have been listening to my show, I am blown away by the amount of listeners, so thanks for tuning in!

Questions I asked on the podcast:
- Can you tell everyone your background with video and what type of video projects do you work on?
- Which Canon cameras do you use and are you a Mac or a PC guy? Also what NLE do you use.
- You have done some work with the inexpensive 126 LED video lights. Can you tell everyone how well they work and what type of situations they are good for? Also, why does Litepanels 1×1 which has about 900 leds cost over $2000 while the 126 costs only $45? Do you see the price coming down?
- What are some of your favorite lens to use for your projects and why?
- Which picture style do you shoot video with? Do you have hightlight tone priority turned on or off and also where do you have the Auto Lighting Optimizer set at?
- What do you use for audio?
- I really like your DIY dolly project you have can you tell everyone more about it?

Dave; another nice podcast, keep up the good work. I’m very interested in how people are staying in focus (following focus) with an SLR riding on a glidecam. I know when I shot my short film, I switched back to a traditional camcorder for the glidecam work so I could use the autofocus as I was following the talent. Are people just stuck at a constant distance… Anyway, keep it up. Cheers.
Hah, nice interview. Emm’s audio seems to be breaking up in the interview… just an FYI from my end!
@Josh, I’m not sure but for me if I increase the aperture to more than f8 that usually puts everything in focus.
Hey Dave, great info here. Thanks for doing these. I have noticed in your lineup for PC and Mac based NLEs you have missed a really big one. Avid. Avid media composer (and other versions) have long been the industry standard video editing tool. The cool thing is now they have software only versions that are less expensive than a full hardware/software turnkey system. It will also run on both Mac and PC with both versions in the same box. Check it out. I have been using it for years.
